Intestinal worms?

My yellow tang looks like it just BMed a big wad of worms. I have noticed worm like substances in its feces before, but never really thought anything of it. I assumed the tang had gotten a hold of some loose chaeto.

However, this time the poor guy swam all around the tank trying to unload a giant stringy wad. Could these be intestinal worms?

The fish appears perfectly healthy otherwise.

It could be intestinal parasites, though usually with a bad infestation you would see the fish getting skinnier. If the 'strings' were moving, it likely that your fish has intestinal parasites. You could try feeding one of the medicated pellets made for deworming or treating with Prazipro.
