Introducing SPS to new system

I'm planning out a 40B build and I'm thinking I'd like to go SPS dominate. I've had tanks with softies and LPS in the past so I have some experience with reef keeping. I've heard that you should only add SPS to a well established system. So what is the proper path to adding SPS to a new system?

set up new system.

wait and keep water conditions good, get used to testing KH and CA++ and dosing to maintain values rock solid.

then start adding cheaper easy SPS frags, if they do well, add more.

then come back on here to ask how to make them color up :)

^ lol that is basically the idea. They key is less to wait till the tank is well established, but more so make sure you have a handle on chemistry and keeping everything in check. As
mentioned above, calcium, alkalinity, and somewhat magnesium must stay consistent. The key to success for sps in my experience is lighting, chemistry stability, and water quality (phosphate and nitrate levels)

thanks for the link allmost. Im going to go ahead and assume that everyone does not have the success that i have with my tank. i followed the simple " starting a new tank"in the stickies on the forum and it worked.

i dont see how so many people can have problems growing anything in their tank...

im also going to assume talking like this will annoy people on this forum but it is just my view on reefing so dont get upset.

Ummm, yes it will most likely cause some disturbance in the RC SPS force.........

Success is relative.

I have seen pictures of your reef, those who have been in the hobby for last 10 years or more, do not see that as success :)

I am glad you are happy with your reef tank though :)

you are very new so I dont think anyone will mind your posts :) still have a long way to go
