Introducing the 210 (and me)

Hi everyone,
This is my very first post on reef central or any other forum for that matter... I figured we (my husband and I) should join because though we've had tanks for many years. Now that we're setting up the 210, everyone thinks we're even more crazy than they already did... We don't really know anyone else in our area that has any kind of fish so we would love to meet others interested in this awesome field. We also have 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 human children - so we are a FULL house!

Anyway, on to the tank: it's a 210 gallon reef ready (2'x2'x6'). We have the tank, stand, and canopy sitting in the room waiting for us to reinforce the floors so we can fill it. I have great pics of tank and all equipment but not really sure how to post pics... If someone could help me out with that, and also the best option for reinforcing the floors, that would be great. The tank backs up to a staircase over our third garage bay, but whatever method we use to reinforce has to be 'gigantic dog-proof', because we converted our third bay into an indoor/outdoor run for our 120lb and growing mastiff puppy... Thanks in advance!

Welcome to RC. Its gonna be fun setting that tank up. I would tell you how to get pics up but Im still trying to figure it out myself. Good Luck.

Welcome to RC. There are several ways to be able to resize your photos of your setup and get them to fit here...I use photobucket. Where are you located?

Look up some of the threads on here for the large tanks and you can see how some have reinforced their floors underneath larger tanks. It really depends on if your tank is sitting perpendicular to the floor joists and the span(distance) the joists run from outside concrete footer to support beam etc...

Thanks, Steve

[welcome]

I'm on board (subscribing). I love build threads with these measurements. Good luck, I'll be interested how you do everything and look forward to pictures of everything - including the "puppy"...............

Welcome! Good luck with the build. I would say to use adjustable steel lolli columns (avail at Home Depot Lowes etc.) with 2x8 across the top of them. Columns can be anchored to the floor. Pretty much as dog proof as you can get.
I'm in the process of setting up the same size tank right now. Mine is on a slab floor. My 110g upstairs has to go so I figured it was time to upgrade.

Welcome! To post pics you can use a free service such as photobucket. Simply upload your photos and copy the IMG codes into here. Look forward to seeing this build.

As far as floor support in your garage perhaps lolly columns would work?
