VorTech MP60w ES Propeller Pump

The MP60w ES is engineered for tanks with one-inch glass thickness and holding 120 to over 1,000 gallons. It uses the same award-winning technology that has made EcoTech Marine's VorTech line the number one brand of pump among reef aquarium enthusiasts.

The MP60w ES utilizes EcoTech Marine's market-leading EcoSmart controller, for maximum controllability within the tank.
EcoTech Marine, the company that revolutionized the reef aquarium propeller pump, is previewing their newest product, the MP60w ES, today at MACNA (Marine Aquarium Conference of North America) in Orlando, FL.

The MP60 is engineered for tanks holding 120 to over 1,000 gallons with up to one-inch glass thickness. The MP60 uses the same award-winning technology that has made EcoTech Marine's VorTech line the number one brand of pump among reef aquarium enthusiasts. Capable of pushing 5,500/gph, the MP60 offers the smallest in-tank footprint for a commercially available pump.

"The MP60 satisfies a pent-up market demand for VorTech technology in larger tanks," said Tim Marks, president of EcoTech Marine. "Prior to this launch, aquarists with tanks having pane thicknesses greater than three-quarters of an inch had very few options for high-flow solutions. We are excited to provide this much desired solution for the most discerning and diehard hobbyists. Performance and quality are always our top priorities. This addition is a natural evolution for us, and perfectly rounds out our VorTech line of products."

The MP60 was designed to create the most flow in the smallest package possible. In EcoTech Marine's quest to continually raise the bar on reef flow technology, the unit runs quiet, cool and with minimal vibration. "This is a very proud introduction for us," added Marks.

The MP60's unmatched flow and out-of-the-box multi-pump wireless communication makes it the best value on the market for larger tanks. The MP60 leverages EcoSmart driver technology, introduced earlier this year, providing unmatched versatility, controllability and customization of flow patterns.

EcoTech Marine's patented VorTech technology produces broad yet gentle flow while placing the motor outside the tank--preserving the beauty of the aquarium and enhancing the health of the tank's ecosystem.

Availability and Pricing

The MP60w ES is slated to be available later this year through EcoTech Marine's network of premiere reef stores and online vendors with an MSRP of $695. Keep checking our website for an exact release date.

Operational Modes

Constant Speed Mode - Pump runs continuously at a constant speed which can be set by the user.

EcoSmart Nutrient Transport Mode (NTM) - A two phase program to promote maximum health and nutrient export, as well as increased growth for corals. Alternates between a resonant standing wave and a surge effect to stir up and export nutrients.

EcoSmart Tidal Swell Mode (TSM) - Creates a harmonic balance in your aquarium reminiscent of the changing flow conditions that would be found in nature. Flow varies from left to right, right to left, calm, and ends with a great surge.

Reef Crest Random Mode - Reef Crest Random Mode simulates the high-energy conditions of a natural reef crest environment.

Lagoonal Random Mode - Simulates the gentler reef zone found in a natural lagoon.

Short Pulse Mode - Allows for wave pulse timings between 0.3 and two seconds, enabling the creation of FAST alternating flow throughout the tank. Use this mode to create a resonant standing wave.

Long Pulse Mode
- Allows for wave pulse timings of between two seconds and 60 seconds, enabling the creation of slow alternating flow throughout the tank.

Feed Mode - Slows down pump to allow user to feed aquarium. User can select the duration and speed for Feed Mode.

Night Mode - Automatically reduce speed and operates continuously at that speed for a period of time during the night. User can select the duration and speed for Night Mode.

Battery Backup Mode - When used with our battery backup accessory, the VorTech pump will switch to Battery Backup Mode in the event of a power outage and will operate at a user set speed. The LED's on your EcoSmart driver will count down to indicate how much power is available within the battery.

Auto-Dim - LED's are turned off and display knob dimmed significantly, but pump functions in its current mode. User can program how long after use before the driver enters Auto-Dim.

On/Off Switch - Tap the on/off switch to turn off and turn on a pump. Hold this button to turn off all pumps in a master/slave group. Tap any pump in the groups' on/off switch and that pump will turn back on.

i saw that right after i posted this. Got an email about it last night. How is MACNA? I wanted to be there, but hopefully next year. Post the video here if you can.

I have a question for you about making cables for the Reefkeeper Elite. Is it just RJ-11 with 6 lines going from one end to the other?

Oh, I am sure it is worth the money I loved my MP10 it just can't handle my newer larger tank; might as well find it a home where somebody else can enjoy it.

It is not a standard rj11 6p cable, so do not use a 6p phone cord. You will damage the unit.

lol i almost did it. There was a big red warning sign that came with the unit not to make your own cables.

The cable i bought was a 6 conductor flat cable by Philips. Pretty sure its not twisted. Do they sell the thicker cable anywhere?

Do i have to use a Rj 12 connector?

jen you wont need a mp60 go with mp40 esw on each side at 75% power. and you will be makeing waves gurl.

"pretty sure" doesn't cut it. How long do you need? I make them.

Thanks zef......I guess I need to buy a MP40 sometime soon. If I go full time in Dickson that is my celebration gift to myself. I have an agreement with somebody on or about the 6th.

Yes, RJ12 = 6 conductors. RJ11 is 4 if I'm not mistaken.

Make sure they're straight through... both ends need to be exactly the same pinout. I just used some black CAT5e and cut off the brown twisted pair on Thursday night to make some custom runs for my office tank. If you have experience crimping cables, its very simple. Just make sure both ends have the exact same pinout.

thanks Brandon. i got some rj-11 connectors from lowes which have 6 pins which i thought was odd. i'll post some pics.

Is cat5 better to use? i know the twisted pair has lower interference; but its not like its sending gigabytes of info lol

Also, are all reefkeeper bus cables made the same way? shorter and longer ones you get with the module.

i still dont know how i would damage the unit by using 6p phone cord unless it needs to meet certain awg standard. i guess the question is what awg is the factory bus cable and why. lol

Thanks again.

It's a monster all right. Tomorrow they will have a dry one for me to snap some pics of.

Some cool things are that they have made some motor enhancements to make them very quiet.

Yes, the older version gets pretty noisy when it runs on high....
