Great news, the group buy is on! Same conditions as last time. Go to JP's site and under GROUP BUYS, select and pay for your items. There is no shipping charges as long as you pick up at the meeting. If you cannot make the meeting, have someone else pick it up for you. We will not be responsible for acclimating your order, then rebagging when your ready for pick up.

Reefdaddy has agreed to pick the order up from JP and bring it to the May 21 Meeting in Cromwell.

The current prices posted on his site will be valid until Friday 10May07. This will be the last day you can order anything under the current specials. Your inverts will be ready to be picked up at the next local club meeting or after 21May07.

If this link doesn't work, go through the CTARS Website and JP will be listed under sponsors.

Thanks JP and Reefdaddy!!

That's awesome. Quick question. Some of these critters (snails, cuc's, conch's) would be going in my FOWLR tank and the substrate is the Kolorscape white playsand (crushed marble if I'm not mistaken). Would these guys fair well in this environment as I know under magnification those grains look kind of sharp.

thanks

Can anyone comment on these inverts:

Bumble Bee Snails - Reef Safe? Friendly with others?

Super Tongan Nassarius Snail - Is this like a normal Nass just much bigger?

Tri Color Hermit - Reef Safe? Friendly with others?
Trochus Snail - Reef Safe? Friendly with others?
Zebra Hermit - Reef Safe? Friendly with others?

Caught a typo in the meeting date. It is May 20. Still at Cromwell, with a speaker scheduled. More details will be posted soon.

From what I was told a while back, these might have the tendency to eat zoo's. At least that is what one source said, so I can not give you any more input than that. I'm not sure if it is true or not, anyone else?

Not friendly. They eat other snails. Never had them eat corals.

Super Tongan Nassarius Snail - Is this like a normal Nass just much bigger?
Yes. Much better than the little guys. Only some stores are carrying them. Due to RC rules I can't post the names, PM if you want to know which LFS have them.

Tri Color Hermit - Reef Safe? Friendly with others?
If these are the ones I'm thinking they are called Electric Blue or Neon Crabs. They are friendly and expensive.

Trochus Snail - Reef Safe? Friendly with others?
Yes. Friendly and will breed in an aquarium.

Zebra Hermit - Reef Safe? Friendly with others?
Yes. Very good crab; eats the red slime algae. Again, only some stores carry them. Due to RC rules I can't post the names, PM if you want to know which LFS have them.

I have a couple of each (except the Bubble Bee) in my show tank. I have never had any problems with them bothering any types of coral or other inverts. The Zebra Crabs are a little more aggressive than other crabs, but they are worth having (a few of) them in the tank.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sounds like I will be getting a few of these different inverts for my little tank.

Anyone else know about the Tri Color hermits???

Does anyone know how to handle paying for shipping. When I select the itmes for the group buy and then proceed to checkout, it only has options for shipping charges, nothing about holding for pick-up. What am I doing wrong or missing.

Well, that's easy....JP's got them. :) Cheaper than anybody else too.

From the website:

"There is no shipping associated with any of these orders. The cart will calculate a shipping cost. This means nothing. You will not be charged the shipping costs. Only those wishing to have their items shipped to them will incur a shipping charge. Let me know if you want anything shipped and I will let you know what the costs will be. "

:)

i never had a problem with bumble bee snails. i think they are a great addition to the home reef. never have they eaten or touched any of my corals.

I agree. I have 3 bumble bee snails in my 14 gallon biocube and they basically stay in the rockwork. They don't move around much at all. I have never had a problem with them.
Poor bumble bee snails...getting a bad rap :(

I also have/had bumble bee snails and never had a problem with them. I don't think they are the best snails out there for a cleanup crew, but in my opinion, they are the coolest looking ones I have seen. :D

Still must be doing something wrong. Selected items from the group buy page and all the way through check out it charged me for shipping? I assume JP will refund shipping charges that got paid for.

I am not sure if you folks saw, but JP has added a selection of T5 bulbs to the group buy. Here is your chance to save on those expensive shipping charges.
