IO salt not totaly disolve...

Is there a reason that the salt not totally disolve in my RODI water. Last week I though just the last cups of the bag, but this week I open the new bag, it still the same. There is some left in the bottom (2 days already). Thanks. Shin.

Common occurence actually. Some people avoid dumping it in while others feel it will eventually dissolve in their tanks. It's doubtful it's detrimental to your tank. Aerating the water a few hours before mixining in the salt and letting it mix over night minimises the particulate left on the bottom.

Thats not the case, I dump the salt very slowly... and it has been
circulate for 2 days... except I turned the pump on then dump the salt...

Do you have a heater in with the Pump?

Some of that stuff will never dissolve, as they are clay minerals (binding agents), anti-caking agents and carrying agents. Some may be precip's of CaCO3 if the water is not warm enough but still you can get it. What do you mean by not totally dissolved, there is stuff on the bottom or the water is still cloudy ?

I don't think it precipitated. It looks like salt... No heater, and water temp is 70 F

Yup, that looks like undissolved salt to me and not a precip. Try warming the water up tp 75 - 80. Also, you do you have pump running to create some current/circulation correct ?

I use the maxi 900 ( first pic). I notice it only the last two week (seem it is cold whether). Let me try to sumerge the heater for a while.

BTW, this is a 12 gallons container, also, do you notice there is a little filmzy on the top surface(red pic, at the maxi nose), kinds off oily... what is that?

I guess did not make any different. Heated up to 80F and circulated over night. Looks like more filmzy stuff on the surface

It only appears to me that there was to much salt for the amount of water used. Try adding more water and what is the salinity of the container ? Take out a teaspoon of the white stuff and put it in cup with as little water as possible. Add some tapwater or RO/DI water. Remove the white stuff again with as little water as possible. Take a few grains and insert in mouth Report back what it tastes like . Also take some and add some vinegar to it and see if it bubbles.

Write to you from an emergency bed... JKD . Not disolve any more in fresh water. It 's crunch like sand, no taste at all, and it's bubbling in vinegar...

For some reason you got allot of CaCO3, Calcite precip form that bag. I don't know why, it just may be a bad bag. It may be the way it was mixed. Have you done the same before, the same way, with other bags when mixing, without this issue ? If not, then just a bad bag.

I had the exact same residue left in my 30 gallon mixing containers. After I used the mixed up water and only had a bit of residue left in the barrels, I added another 30 gallons of RO/DI and turned on the powerhead. The residue never did mix up even when it was only the residue and 30 gallons of new water.

The happened in the summer when the temps were in the 100's and also now in the 60's, so temp isn't a factor imho.

I had this happen with several IO buckets, however, they may have all been from the same batch, as I bought them all at once.

I just switched to IO recently, this is the second bag fresh start. This happended with the last mixed from the first bag.
Maybe this also precipitated on my rocks, rocks have white spots everywhere in the tank.
OK so it is precipitated, can I still use this salt or just waste it?

Take some of that water and measure th pH , Alk, Ca++ and Mg ++, to see where they are at. If they are normal for IO, then go ahead and use it.
