Iodine?

I'm curious if anyone is dosing/having big success with testing and dosing iodine? Would you recommend it? My tank is a 180 almost all zoas and mushrooms.

I use Kent Marine Iodide supplement, 10 drops per day for a 75g with roughly 17g in sump/refugium also. My Zoa's have great color and seem to be doing great so far, besides the Camel Shrimp that I got rid of today.

Yep, iodine (potassium iodide) does make difference for my zoas.
Tested many times and I just can't help but tell you to try for yourself!

I dose only avarage of 1 ml. 3 times a week for my 75gal.

How do you know you don't overdose? Is there a test kit?
Also how do other corals feel about it? Thinking of trying it.

You just don't.
I added until I saw difference. There is no need for excess at all. I mean, using 3ml per week is enough for my 75gal. No algae problems, so...
But when I decided to stop the polyps were just different, smaller and some showing a little pale colors here and there. Nothing else was changed.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the skimmer removes iodine from the water, so I guess I could add even more than the recommended dosage. Just go slow and see what happens. I use the SeaChem brand.

Is there a test kit
Not that I know of. Not for aquariums, I would think.
I've never tested and didn't need to.

Great! Try small quantities, like the one I dose and see if you find any differences.
I've heard many people saying their hard corals were great when iodine was dosed.

Would be great to hear from others.
This is a very ample subject and there are all kinds of discussions trying to proof both sides. I decided to try and had only positive from it.

Red Sea, Salifert, and Seachem all make iodine test kits. I found them at a couple of online vendors.
