lol What is the purpose of dosing it ? What does it do ?

I dose - but not for my sps

I'll dose for my xenia, zoas and shrimp to help molt.

I use lugals, I'll dose half of what they recommend weekly but once evey 3-4 weeks and sometimes longer.

I also test for it to make sure I'm not putting to much in

I thought I read something a while back on Iodine and sps color.

I use Iodide. mainly for inverts. Dont really know whats the difference between, the two. I have also heard about the color improvements of Iodine, but i don't know if Iodide also does the same thing. would be nice to know thouh

Yeah I read in a bunch of threads in the SPS section with iodine use for there sps WHERE R U GUYS NOW lol

What are you looking for that those threads didn't tell you?

I dose Lugol's because several very successful SPS reefers I know swear by its use. Many will post you shouldn't dose something if you don't have a concrete reason why. The only thing I know for sure that it does for my tank is increase polyp extension. My SPS increase polyp extension immediately upon dosing and with continued dosing maintain very good extension. I have seen zero negative effects.

I think that you will find that most SPS'ers that dose say it improves color especially purples, but I can't say for sure if it does or doesn't.

I started dosing a few months ago. I had been struggling for years to try to get results that i see here and in my local farms show tank. I think i had already tried most things, the farm suggested adding Iodine and I must say i have seen a dramatic improvement in the way the colours pop.

I always knew about iodine for inverts never sps I find this very interesting. Ian/Tiger have you evr tried any other supplements like amino acids ect.... I have great colors on my sps I dose a few zeo additives but never heard of iodine until recently which is why i wanna find out more about it. What iodine are you guys using ?

I don't dose anything else and really haven't tried anything else like amino's. I use Lugol's, but if your tank is healthy and you are getting the results you want like color and polyp extension, I'm not sure I would add anything new, JMO.

Same as TwistedTiger. I never dosed amino acids or tried any other additive.
I think mine is from tropic marine.
I can't say 100% this has been the reason for the improvement, i have not really changed anything else, but results so far have been positive
