iPhone / iPad / Android Reef Apps

If anyone is looking for a controller to use with their iOS / android devices, the Reef Angel now has apps available for them all.

thx for the app suggestion... The Apex ap is very nice! I have it woking inside the house (took lke 30 seconds to get running). I'll mess with my Port Forwarding settings so I can use it externally. For now I've been using the shtml tool to monitor and control externally, so this app is much nicer.

I will try and take this one.
if you have an APEX system and an adroid phone, go to market place and you are going to watn the Apex App that is made by HeneryH
then you go into the settings of the app and set your prefrences.
Title
URL for the controler
user name
password
etc

then you add the widget on the home page. you do not access the display info from where you launch the app.

so hold your finger where you want it on the home page and then selext Android widgets then select if you want the tall or short one. that will dispay the widget with the stats of your tank. If you want to expand it just tap on the widget. if you have questions let me know. I did this trial and error and got it going. this is they coolest thing ever, by the way. this was one of the larger selling points to getting android over Iphone. widgets and neat!

I am running an AC Jr so I have to use the ACSerial2Web app. It works great. I am going to donate to both authors right now.
if anyone else has any questoins let me know. I will try and answer them. I know nothing about the internal workings of these. just a little experience with the use of the apps and the aqua controllers.

I am running this on a Motorola Droid X2

Thx for the instructions... nice little app! Just starting to use it.

+1 more for aquaplanner pro. Just downloaded it and it is a very nice app, so far I am very impressed. Was using Aqua Tracker pro before but was having all sorts of problems opening my data. Thanks for the suggestion of aquaplanner pro!

I've been trying out the iPhone app ReefTankPro, which is great for logging parameters and maintenance and has a cool graphing function.

On the recommendations in this thread, I downloaded aquaPlanner Pro and will give it a shot. So far I like the interface and the ability to track tank inhabitants, but found that it does not have a complete database for some not so rare marine reef fish. Is there any way to add fish that are not in the database?

+1 for aquaPlanner, Aquaimate is nice too but it doesn't function well on the ipad and as far as I can figure out only allows one chemical test a day.

What about the Neptune Apex app. You can control the whole tank from your phone, and on the android version you can have a widget on your home screen showing you the temp and ph at all times.

Thank did know about the widget just dropped it on my home screen
+1

+1 for Aquaplanner Pro ....AND...Neptune Apex App. As a team, my tank is almost self sufficient. Whether I'm gone training or deployed, I can share the Aquaplanner app with my wife via iCloud. It updates both of our phones with reminders and I get to keep up with the tank.

Also, it is GREAT FUN to control the tank from overseas, in Africa or somewhere in the Middle East. (A little creepy for her at times...lol)

Can't wait for Neptune to roll out the new dashboard with individualized user controls. There are three people I trust with adjusting minor things on my system...everyone else can view with "reviewer" access only or just use the controller box to put in feed modes.

Aquaplanner Pro is worth the couple of dollars for the app!! Version 2.3.9 functions well, but still doesn't allow for sharing of equipment or livestock..... :( bummer.

I use aquatic log on my iPhone and its free. I keep track of water params and water changes. If you go on the website you can log your livestock as well. Also I went with the reef angel controller and use there app to control everything in my tank. I think its better then the apex because its open source so you can program it to your likings. Completely customizable, my LEDs are set with Hawaii sun rise/set and they go through storms, clouds, and lightning. I love the reef angel over the reef keeper elite. The RK is junk.

It's been some time since this thread was updated, so I'm wondering what everyone uses these days. I'm trying to decide between:

AquaPlanner Pro
Aquarimate
AquaticLog

The AquaticLog appears to be the latest, and looks great. Has anyone else tried these three and can compare them?

haha, i've bought wayyyyyy too many apex modules recently

ReefDoser is pretty handy. It's a few less clicks than going online for a dosing calculator.

aquarimate is great. worth the expense IMO. a previous post suggested it does not work well w/ iPad, but I have had no problems w/ use on my iPad.

Love this app too. I wish that my ipad and iphone would sync automatically though since I use both at different times.
