ironic fish jumping story :(

its ironic that i just bought eggcrate last night to put on top of the tank because i just read that firefish i jumpers and i didnt want my 4 month old firefish or anythign else jumping out of my tank and i came home about a hour ago to actaully shape the crate into the right size and who do you think is on my floor, the firefish, dead but still wet

Yea, they're jumpers. Mine went carpet surfing too.

Yeah, sometimes they can find the smallest opening and hit it like a field goal in the 4th quarter. Sorry for your loss.

That is how it always goes. I was going to cover my tank so my brazilian flameback angel wouldn't jump but thought "I will do it when I get back" and guess what?

I hear ya, mine cleared the 4" horizontal peace of acrylic on the top of my tank to welcome my dog back from its walk.

No I thought "it will be alright until I get back". Boy was I wrong.

Even with eggcrate, smaller fish can still make it through. I just lost my Purple Tilefish when he went carpet surfing. How a fish that is about 1/2" around jump through a 1/2" opening in eggcrate I will never know.
