If you do, they will know me...I have spent plenty with them. It is Fish And Other Itchy Stuff in Oldsmar. They just today added another fishy to the family. John and Jennifer just had a baby boy today.

I will say we are very lucky to have them in our area, not that I have travelled alot but the place's I have gone I have never encountered any owner's like John and Jennifer. I also don't think I have ever seen any algae in any of there tanks in the year that I have been going there.

when i lived upstate new york, and was just getting into all of this, an lfs owner told me all i needed was a "skilter", and i could keep all the corals and fish i wanted. I put sand and water in my tank and 2 days later the owner told me if my salt was stable, whatever that means, than i could put some fish in. I have a 29t, and he quickly sold me a clown and dominoe damsel, which unfortunaly both died. He then told me that i just needed to watch my fresh water topoff, and sold me a baby sailfin tang, assuring me it was the perfect size for my tank. I liked it so much, that i then let him talk me into a "green" tang. A couple of weeks later, i moved back to long island, and started visiting lfs stores around here, and looking online at places like this. I quickly learned that my "green tang" was in fact a vlamingii and was going to someday reach a length of 2feet. My lord. Anyways, its a whole nother story now, and i can say that i have been turned into a pretty decent "reefer" by all the good reading on RC

well my plan was to start a thread about shitty LFS staff and owners but im glad to see someone beat me to it! look guys we can sit around and talk about wankers selling/killing our sacred livestock but unless we talk to the customers in these shops before the staff do nothing will change. I often stand around in the marine section of my LFS and just talk to anyone around about the hobby and do my best to educate them. Often i simply recomend certain books (sprung/delbeek/nilson/fossa/knop) and websites. i tell them to do 6months - 1year of research only then return to the store with your wallet ready. if you explain to people that spending on books and research will save them ALOT of time and money they usually listen:) happy reefing guys and PLEASE speak up!!!!! this is so important for the future of our hobby or there wont be any angelfishes left in the ocean or many alive in captivity because they are ALL DEAD in un-educated peoples tanks. just my .02

Man, I wish I could remember the name of that place...
It's been a couple of years since I lived there, but looking at the map I want to say it's on monterey. I remember it was on the corner, but all the stores I can find on the yellow pages online are on US-1 and I know it wasn't there.

that would probably be aquatic world, they've since moved up monterey to US1.

thanks guys, on my 15th birthday i asked him if he was hiring, he said no at first, but then he started thinking abut it, and took my information, and says if anything pops up, maybe around winter he will give me a call.

from what my step dad has told me, if you are persistant enough, you will almost certaintly get the job, so i am going to walk in some time next week when i get some water, and tell him in no uncertain terms that i have the theoretical knowledge for this field, bvut lack certain experiences, i am realy interested in gaining them, before moaquaculture is started next school year, so i was wondewr ing if you would allow me an internship"

i will word it better, but hopefully that way, i can assist, and maybe get a position, when he fires the kid who takes red tree sponges from the shipping bag and into the air!!!
