Irritating Diver's Den Experience

Hi there,

Last Friday I ordered a Bodianus speciousus and a Golden Sailfin Blenny (A2616303). Came back from a meeting today with a message from liveaquaria - called back to find out the Bodianus did not ship due to "health reasons" and that it was being held for me, to be shipped out on a future date. My questions to you:

1) Why are you advertising a fish in the WYSIWYG section that is not fit for ship out?

2) Am I expected to pay for shipping twice now? I usually order more than 1 item to defray shipping costs....

3) Just checked the Diver's Den and there is another Bodianus speciosus of the same size for sale. Why was I not offered that one instead?

Terra Ferma,

Thank you for your inquiry. We sincerely apologize that your Blackbar Hogfish was unable to ship at this time. We do our best to ensure that all specimens are in proper health before shipping. However, there are rare occasions when a fish’s condition may change and is noticed on final review before shipping. In this situation, we hold the fish in our quarantine system, and credit the credit card for the price of the item in case the specimen’s condition does not improve. Once the fish is in proper health, we will re-charge the card for the price of the item and arrange to have it sent at no additional charge for the shipping. We are hopeful that the Blackbar Hogfish will be able to go out within the next 1-2 weeks. You will be contacted once the fish is available to ship again.

Additionally, we apologize that the specimen was relisted in error after removal and appreciate you bringing this to our attention so that our Diver’s Den listings can be corrected. According to our Aquaculture Coral & Marine Life Facility, there is only one of this specimen in stock, which is the one currently on your order. Again, we sincerely apologize for any confusion on this matter.

Terra Ferma, I have to say I think live aquaria does an outstanding job in this respect. I understand your concerns and disappointment in not receiving your fish when you had expected it. But consider the alternative of dealing with a large portion of online venders who would have just shipped the questionable looking live stock.

Kudos to the folks at live aquaria for actually having the checks in place.
