is 250 watts enough?

Yes it is 1/8" acrylic and the bulb is 8-9" directly over the acrylic strip. The acrylic does not get hot at all.
If I was to do it again I would use 1/4" acrylic just for piece of mind.

i have recently become better at glass cutting
and i have some small bits
i think i will just cut some glass and put four holes in it

and what about the wattage on the bulb
does a 400 watt put out more heat than a 250?

a heckuva lot more.
Personally, I don't feel a 400watt is necessary for what you're doing.

I thank you would be better off with 1/4" acrylic. You never know when you are going to hit the glass with a piece of live rock.
