Is a G2 enough for a 75g

I have a G2 skimmer on my 75 with a 29G sump. I have a royal Gramma, Perc Clown, Bi-colored Blanny, Fantail Blenny, yellow watchman Goby, and a small yellow tang. I bought two juvenile engineer gobies about 4 months ago, but have never seen them one time.

I have recently started turning towards all SPS and I am wondering if this skimmer should be my first upgrade or if it is good.

The G2 is rated for up to 200 gallons, it should be plenty.

if the engineer survives, watch out- if you have a sandbed. Coexisting with SPS would be a challenge. However, if you could make it work, it would definitely add personality.

A G2 is a bit over sized. I would go with a G1X.

A g2 is fine, I was using a g3 before with no problems on my 75g tank. I now run a euroreef 135 on my sps tank and I think it is comparable to a g2 so you're definately fine using that.

Still a bit overkill IME. A G2 may stop skimming after a while because it will remove all the organic waste from the water.

It is actually a G1x. I thought the sedra 3500 was only on the G2. But my skimmer body is smaller. Figured out it's a g1x. Thanks for the help. I know skimmer technology changed a lot and I thought maybe the old ASM technology was inadequate.

While ASM may be an old design it is tried and true. They are still a real work horse of a skimmer. A bit over priced new IMO compared to newer design skimmers. The G1X will work nicely and is very well sized for a 75g. If you need more out of it you can gate valve, mesh mod and recirc mod it.

i run a G3 on my 75 and it is not overkill. It works very well so a G2 would be fine.

Well if it works use it. I have a SC150 cone skimmer rated for 150g and it kicks a$$, the G1X is also rated for 150g. The G2 is rated for 200g and the G3 250g.
