And the skeleton was partially showing.

Until you said this, I would've probably said yes...

Now, my vote goes for no.. If its already showing skeleton, its not worth near that much.

ya, i paid 40 for my orange plate and it was about 3" in diameter but no skeleton showing...

so id say you should get some discount for it having the skeleton showing, and hopefully you can nurse it back to good form

x2 what minibow said...ive payed $40 for my plate only becuase it was 5" and a long tentacled and its VERY long tentacled

I paid 90 for mine and its flourescent orange. About 3-4" diam.

here she is

it doesnt matter what anyone else says. If you like it and are willing to spend the money on it and are confident that you can nurse it back to health, then of course it is worth it.
Prices vary from store to store or area to area.

I agree, with the post above that said around $20-$25 if it is receding and you think you have a shot at saving it. Suggest half price then negotiate your discount up from there. Most LFS I think are willing to go 10-15% off anyway.

I purchased one recently same 3 in size for $30. But I applaud your efforts in trying to save one. This is a beautiful animal!

Is $40 really that much to you, that you have to ask people if it's ok to spend it? This kind of topics are getting annoying.

audio101 if you don't like this type of thread, don't read it.

I see no harm in someone asking about reasonable prices. Yes, prices will vary from area to area based on taxes and rental rates. However, it is nice to hear opinions even if only for peace of mind.

Plate boy, I recently found a green with purple tentacles that I have been wanting. It was a coloration I really like and the only plate they had. I have not been able to find plates, especially this color anywhere else locally. Original price was $40, I paid $30. It has not recovered and now has 1/3 of the skeleton fully exposed. I knew this might happen. I am still hopefull that it might grow back, but am now thinking that hopeing for babies is more reasonable. Either way i will be happy.

California prices should be a third to half less than most other states.
SO 40-60 for a healthy one is not unreasonable. The LFS cost where you live is going to be 20-30. They certianly should not ask for more than cost on a likely to die coral.
