Is all live rock really the same?

I've seen Fiji, Premium Fiji and Ultra-Premium Fiji live rock advertised. Is there really any difference? I don't mind paying the extra if there is, but I am new and wonder if it is just hype. If there really is an 'ultra-premium' live rock, who is a good source...

Thanks...Andy :beachbum:

Check out Tampa Bay Saltwater. I have bought Fiji, Tonga, Haitian, etc... But TBS rock is head and shoulders above the rest IMHO. You get rock with a lot of life on it. Corals, feather dusters, anenomes, coraline algae, crabs, shrimp, starfish, and dreaded mantis shrimp. But it is awesome rock. Fiji rock is just rock with some bacteria and a little algae from what I have got. But some have more luck. But TBS is auacultured and the guy you talk to when you order is the guy who dives, transports, sells, and ships the rock.

Hey, this place is awesome. I just watched their 20 min video. Way impressive, I'm definately going to order from them. Thanks

I think you will like it. 2 weeks and very little die off for me.

this all depends on how you cure your rock when it gets here also: if you 'cook' it like people advise to do now, don't bother getting any premium rock.

to get the MOST life off of the rock, it should be kept in low ammonia, full light conditions. ie: water changes until the ammonia goes down, in a smallish tub with a nice bright light over the top of it.

but, if yuo don't want the nasties, cooking it is fine, but you end up with rock and corraline algae, and thats it...
