Try looking up Sebdenia flabellata. It's beautiful. Does it grow fast? Did it come into your tank on live rock? If so, where was the rock from? I believe it is a favored food by many herbivore snails.

ah ha

another good one .... outstanding.

Note, for the record on my part, I don't have this but saw it for sale and all I have is the pic. Apparently, the seller told me, a few came in with his/her livestock order and they don't know any thing about it. I was told that it was attached to the rock.

What I am looking for is someone that can give it a name, both technical and local ( what reefers or cultivators call it ) and if anyone out there has some and if anyone is cultivating this should we or myself want to acquire some either by purchase, trade, or pandering.

I personally do not want a type of macro such as this to disappear if we find it pretty cool and want to introduce it to our reefs or fuges.

And last, how well does it grow and survive? Or is this just another fleeting specimen of Tang food.

I have that stuff growing like crazy on one (and only one) piece of live rock. It's pretty cool looking. My LFS has some growing in one of his tanks. He said it was a caulerpa strain and was good for the tank.

I never heard of RED caulerpa .... what does the LFS charge for his and is it on rock or loose.

I do know this stuff goes flat when out of the water.

I've been looking for an id on this for awhile. Finally got one. I have a piece that is very close to the size of the piece in the first picture. I just came up one day on some tbs rock. It could have been a piece of tonga branch though. They were pretty close together. Grows pretty fast. Is it a pacific or atlantic species?
