I'm looking at a 36''deep tank just don't know how well sps will do in that deep of a tank. the tank will also be 6feet long. i was wanting to run T5's

thanks

T5s may not pentrate to the bottom of a 36" deep tank very well. Unless you have really long arms, you should also consider the maintenance issues. Youll want to be able to work on the bottom of the tank, and its likely youll need a mask and snorkel to work on the bottom of such a deep tank.

If i only had long arms!!!! my tank know is 30'' deep and i can just reach the bottom. your right not a good idea

thanks

I grow SPS at the bottom of my 36" deep 500 gallon. I love the way they can grow over 2 feet tall and the fisn have room to swim over the top of the reef...

I run (6) 400 watt with HQI's, (4) 160 VHO atinics, and (4) 96 watt PC.

On a 8 foot tank and light isn't a problem..

His arms stretch...lol...i have a 30 incher and its a pain to reach the bottom with my stubby arms but SPS will grow down there!

I have a ladder... One to get to the top, and one to get to the bottom of the tank Hahahah. My tank is a inwall in a alcove of our house. We did millwork false front, the light rack moves back and allows me almost 30" clear to the ceiling.. I can stand in the tank if need be. By laying on top I can reach to the bottom 4-5" and tongs do the rest. I would never have a tank less than 36" deep. Long shallow tanks seem so stubby. I can access all sides of my system.

ricks: I agree that long shallow tanks look odd, knowing you can manage a 36" with regards to lighting and reach gives me some hope for my next tank :)

I had a 30" and it was such a pain I always got my armpits wet when stuff fell over on the bottom.Ricks what tongs are you using I had the coralife and the Tunzes both broke and rusted out very fast(like in a few months)I used to rinse them after each use to get the salt off the tongs.

I think around 34.95?? I've used mine to move rocks, clams, coral.. And never had a problem.. Maybe I got a magic pair..
