Is AquaNotes worth it?

NeveSSL

Got tubes?
Hi all!

I am probably going to get an AC Jr. soon. I was wondering if you guys thought it was worth it to get the full version of AquaNotes?

I would like the WebServer and email alarm functions (even though I'd have to leave a computer on 24/7... more electricity... heh), but I was wondering what all you guys who have the full version have found useful or pointless?

Thanks!

Brandon

acctually i requires less energy to leave your computer on during the day then it takes to turn it on and off. I know it sounds stupid but its true

Do you have an article explaining that?

I only use my desktop every once in a while, though... maybe once every three days... so that makes a difference in the electricity bill. I may build a new one, though, and try to make it as efficient as possible. :)

This is not true unless your computer has a sleep mode thereby negating the ability of the computer to respond to conditions in the tank.

That is why I constantly work at developing a fuel cell powered computer running off the methane generated by my tank. :D

i think it's well worth it. if youre not sure download the light version and see what you think.

Yeah, I'll definitely start with the light version, needless to say. I will probably ultimately wait and see what happens with his "recent purchase". ;) (with him being Curt) If you don't know what I'm talking about, head over to aquariumcontrollers.com and check the news from June 4th. :D

Thanks for the replies.

If you want to access Aquanotes from the internet, you will need a computer running XP Pro, an ethernet connection, and Aquanotes Full Edition. If this isn't your concern, then the Lite version will work for basic programming. ;)

Thanks for the reply.

Internet access and email alarms are why I would get it. :)

I think I'm gonna wait, though.

I also think Curt has put a ban on selling the AC Jr.s for less than $249. :( I can't find it discounted anywhere now. Oh well...

Brandon

Gotcha. Just make sure when you get it you have a computer that runs XP Pro. You need to the web server (IIS) function to be able to use the web access. ;)
