Is Blue Zoo comparable to Live Aquaria?

Looking to order a Leopard wrasse from Blue Zoo because Live Aquaria is out of stock. Do they quarantine and hold the fish a few weeks like Live Aquaria does?

Live Aquaria does not hold, or quarantine fish, UNLESS you purchase the fish out of the Diver's Den section. All the standard Live Aquaria fish drop-ship from a wholesaler in California.

That said, the specimens I've gotten from all places (Regular LA, Diver's Den & BZA) have been of superb quality.

The guarantees are not the same. All fish at BZ are not guaranteed, difficult ones have no guarantee. Problems when they occur have different ways of offering credit.

i have never ordered from any, but i have heard from many many peeps, that divers den and their QT process and health, along with its and the customer service in regards to the guarantee and whatnot, are absolutely top notch...

jmo in what i have gathered for info myself...

I just want to comment that when people say DD QTs their fish, that they in fact do not. I would call it "conditioning" (and I believe LA calls it that too). They hold fish for a certain period of time and get them comfortable and feeding well.

which is enough for me to buy a fish from them, and enough to know that they are top-notch and of high quality.

True. They also closely examine every fish on a daily basis. Can you imagine the cost of a fish that was QTd for weeks the way we do it?

Very few would be able to afford only but the most common species.

That said, Live Aquaria is in my opinion the gold standard for aquatic life, from the actual animals themselves to the customer service very few vendors come close.

BZ is not bad, but IMO the livestock and service does not compare.

I didn't know LA doesn't hold their fish at least two weeks like DD. That would change my opinion a bit on them. I ordered an Ornate Leopard from DD and it did great. Last week I ordered at Blue Star Leopard from LA and I haven't seen it since day one in my tank.

BZA just isn't on LA's/DD's level.

I've ordered plenty of fish from both, and the success rate for BZA is much lower than LA/DD. I don't know anything about their processes - all i see is the end result.

...........and that's what counts. I have some prejudices; but I have never seen any company, in any business, that consistently gets the number of positive comments as do the F&S companies. ( F&S, DD, LA)

Live Aquaria has green guarantee policy. I have order from LA and Blue Zoo. Although Blue Zoo Aquatic is not on the same level, it is still pretty good.

We order from DD fairly often, and they do a top notch job (we just got another scorp from them yesterday).

Since we're local to BZ, we don't have them ship to us. We just arrange a "will call" pickup.

DD cannot be matched and their prices are really competitive. If it was available on DD I would get it from there. My second choices would be my LFS, Live Aquaria and Bluezoo.

I have seen the Leopard Wrasse on DD-I would just wait. I have purchased from DD numerous times and have had excellent experiences. And you just can't beat the guarantee.
