Is Chromis aggressive?

I have see the brown chromis, Chromis multilineata, attack other fish. I have observed this multiple times while scuba diving. I was struck by it because chromis have a reputation of being peaceful. The fish were gathered around a coral head and perhaps it was territorial behavior. The green chromis, Chromis viridis,has a reputation of killing each other but being peaceful with each other.

I have two chromis in my 80g that came from another reefer who had a 180g and two these where originally 6-8. So I guess these were the strongest two. They show some aggression towards each other and have been together a couple of years. I agree that unless it's a really big system I wouldn't do more than 1 or 2. I'm sure some have had success but I read more often than not that they kill each other.

i had 12 chromis and only 4 made it... I was a rookie and was hoping for the best.
