Is filtered tap water ok for mantis tank?

I've been trying to use the search function with no success. Is one of those store bought tap water filters (Rita, Pur) okay for a mantis only tank? the LFS is already ordering me the peacock tomorrow. Since its already paid for they'll hold it for a few weeks until I cycle my tank.

I used strictly RO/DI on my reef before tearing it down. I really dont want to be making trips to the watermill at midnight hauling 5 gallon jugs up my stairs again.

I don't want to invest in a RO/DI unit for a $20 shrimp either.

Would it be okay? If I do get an algae outbreak is there a cleanup crew that will survive with a smasher?

Snails that are bigger then the Mantis work well for me. He does hit them if they get near him but it seem slike it's only a warning tap.

My mantis is amall though.

You could make a micro phosreactor with a few inches of 1" PVC, screen, caps, and a small pump.

The best way to keep the algae down seems to be the "Aquafuge". Just an aquaclear filter with the media replaced with algae and a light on it. Just screen the outlet so no algae gets out.

I use strictly tap water in all my tanks. The only thing I do to it is dechlorinate it and salt it. It works fine for all my creatures...
