Is hypo a must with QT

I just picked up a P Brown T. Healthy as hell. Have had ich in my 210 in the past; don't feel like ripping it down and letting it sit for 8 weeks.

My question is do I have to hypo my QT, or can I just observe for problems for 2 to 4 weeks?

No hypo in the main, many benefical critters and some of your priced inhabitants and corals in your main will not make it trough the tratment.

Was not asking that. I am running a25 g QT; do I need to hypo it or not. There is not any evidence of disease.

I hypo all new reef fish in quarantine. Don't own any sharks or rayfish, but I would not hypo them. Watch the pH in hypo.

I hypo all new fish. That way if they have ich but it doesn't show itself or is not noticed, it will die from the get go with the hypo.

Sorry, no if there are no specific signs of illness there is no reason to stress the fish other than observation.
Remember to provide good hiding places as you will not only QT them but also acclimating including feeding so try making it as confortable as possible.

:) I should add that I use hyposalinity therapy routinely for more than just treating ich. Personally, I don't think it is stressful to the fish when used correctly. I am currently working on a manuscript outlining several applications for hyposalinity. It’s not just for ich or disease treatment anymore. Don’t forget to keep the alkalinity up and to check the pH daily when using hypo.

Cheers,
