Is it enough??

ok..

Tank dimensions:

96x30x30

Overflow on one end..

Tank will be a room divider (Visible on 3 sides)

Sump has an Iwaki MD-55rlt PUMP, returning up the overflow box, out two loclines to the tank at approximatly 28" high...

Closed Loop at other end of tank (Drain for CL is in Overflow box)
1 1" Return in the middle of the tank @ the other end.

Pump running this is a Gen-X PCX55

My question is..

Is this all enough flow?? Or should I drill for another CL??
It's easy to do now, tank won't be done till the 3rd of July..

Tank will be FOWLR, with some softies, and maybe some GSP's, etc...

I would say that you should add some more flow to your setup. Even with a FOWLR setup, you probably will want some good waterflow to blow out detritus and to give your fish some exercise. I would maybe add another closed loop or two with a Sequence Dart hooked up. Even if you don't hook up a pump to it, you should drill another hole or two because it's better to drill extra now in case you want to upgrade later, which is always a possibility.

So, I've decided then.. I'll Drill another 2" drain and two 1" Loc-Line returns..

A Reeflow Dart be enough?? Or should I go with the hammerhead?

Ok.. It's done..

Bought the Reeflow Dart.. Got a good deal too..

I will do a 2" Drain in the middle of the tank, and then two 1" returns..

In addition to my already existing 1" return for the other CL I have on the tank

I'm running a dart on my closed loop on the exact same tank. I have the dart plumbed into a 4-way and have them on each corner essentially. Then in the center I have two 1" returns from the sump with a BL55.

The Dart seems to be plenty of flow, along with the almost 3X turnover from the return pump, but I'm thinking of adding a couple OM revolutions to the back corners to randomize the flow more.

JMO, FWIW:)

Well, I'll have almost 5000 gph on this tank by the time I'm done.

3600 GPH for the dart
1350 for the Iwaki 55RLT
1300 for the Gen-X PCX55

So, yeah.. I think I'll be good..

So you're returning on the top??

I was thinking of doing that..

I have two returns right below my overflow.. And a single 1" return for the existing CL right now.

My plan is to add a new 2" drain for the Reeflow.. In the middle of the tank.

Then Take and run 4 one inch returns in each corner like you're doing.. Using hard PVC piping.. I think I'm going to add the OM Revolutions as well..

Yeah, I guess two darts is overkill :-)

I have had PC's over my tank for over a year and there have been no problems with the PVC.

Where do I have two darts??

I have the following now:

1 Reeflow Dart
1 Iwaki 55RLT for the Sump Return
1 Gen-X PCX55 for the original closed loop.

Total flow is a little over 5500 gph..

But I will be throttling back the Reeflow a bit..
