So I looked into clam gaping and I'm not sure if mines gaping or not

It's the inhalent end that 'gapes'. Hard to tell for sure from either photo, but looks OK to me.

Your clam is NOT gaping. It looks very happy.

The clam in the picture below is also a healthy clam:

However, the clam (on the right) in the picture below is gaping:

I would never worry if a clam extends its mantle tissue fully, but worry a lot when the opposite happens.

Inhalent siphon is the larger one with the fringed edges (though not all clams have the fringe); exhalent is the one that extends as a tube. It's the inhalant that 'gapes', though some species are more likely to open wider than others. Gigas the widest; maxima the narrowest.

Mine is a squamosa so it might be normal he seems like he's doing okay
