I think it was a mistake not to embrace a positive change, but that is that.

Hmmm, I will say that I am a bit befuddled on the statement made earlier that there are no ill feelings by SLASH board and members towards SEASL. It seems there is a still a bit of angst in the tone of some of the ideas expressed here.

For what it's worth, my sole intent here was to try to create a feeling of good will between the two clubs. I would like to see us all act like adults instead of teenagers.

It is clear that I am not going to change the mind of our board, they have come together here tonight in force to say their peace and that is fine. I think it was a mistake not to embrace a positive change, but that is that.

Dave, I haven't spoke real loud yet, but I'd be up for what the majority of the membership wanted. Even one club...

THat being said, I joined SLASH because I felt the BOD's of SEASL were more than a bit stand offish and somewhat eliteist. They didn't seem to speak much on the boards.

I was the person who traded frags with Trottie at that meet. He treated me very well there. I would expect any club at all to encourage interaction between the membership regardless of what else was going on, as long as it did not interfere with the general intent.

If it wasn't for people in SEASL at the time, I wouldn't have a tank now, nice looking lawn, body guy, etc.

I'd be happier if we could all just get along though...

Howard

Sorry about that :) I notice your replie and just wanted to let you know I was trying to edit at the same time you were posting and messed up and posted right behind you. My bad.

I mean that I would like to see the clubs work together instead of against each other.

I hear you, Lonnie! I am glad the members are speaking up too...we know we have people who care about the club and that is great. My concern is come time this year for dues to be collected and I am afraid that we have alienated a lot of people over the last year. There are always going to be a few diehard members like yourself that will always support the club, but there are those that are more sensitive and will not want to be a part if they determine we are not doing the best we could in our relations with the other SW club.

Kind of what SEALS did to most of us.

???What do you mean, please explain yourself better:D

Not to Bash SEASL but, They have demonstrated to us that are opinion didn't matter.. There was a ton of us that wanted change last year including yourself.. Nothing was done!

I hear ya, Lonnie! You are going to get NO arguments from me on that point. We definitely had a good reason to start a new club rather than upsetting the applecart there.

My only point I want to impress, is that we move past this hostile attitude in our direction of SLASH. As a board member, I got to a point that because of this resentment, I didn't think I could participate any longer. Being on the board from the beginning, I have always cautioned against being anti-SEASL.

When I saw it was not happening, I figured I would say my peace and if we can't move on, then perhaps it is time I do :(

Well I hate to see such happen, However I believe Ricky Nelson's song Garden Party come's to mind here when I say " You can't please everyone, So you've got to please yourself". I don't know if someone here is so to speak "picking on you" but I'd like to think that you would be able to fight back and stand up for what you believe in. And if leaving the Slash club is just that, then by all means, Do what you feel is right. I'm sure you will follow what you preach and still attend the gatherings thereby being a part of the hobby and still our friend. :)

Stupid

So What is the difference between the two clubs? I have had a tank for a little over a year now and have been a SEASL member for less than a year. I joined SEASL because that was the first club I knew about, and I don't know what events occured that caused a rift and formation of another club. Nor do I paticularly care about the details. I have attended events for both clubs, and maybe I should attend meetings that are not attched to events, but I have not been able to see a difference between the two clubs. Everyone seems to be friendly and helpful and participation seems to be healthy in both clubs. The only difference that I see is that food seems to be attached as an after event in one of the clubs(and for those that have seen me, more Food is the last thing I need) I am not saying that there should be one club only because some competiton is good, as long as it is healthy competiton, and it keeps the boards catering to the members (and I like catered meals. Doh, sorry gotta stay off the food words) Also, joint events should happen at least once a year For the reason that inwall states below.

I think a good portion of the membership of both clubs spoke loud and clear and said WE DON'T CARE WHAT CLUB YOU'RE IN!!! We just want to have fun together.

However, that takes place I'm cool with. In the last 2 and a half years, I've been able to attend 3 meetings at SEASL. In spite of that, SEASL has always been good to me and that's why I renew my membership. If there's always going to be two clubs, I have absolutely no problem joining SLASH too. But the key is MOST OF US DON'T CARE ABOUT CLUB AFFILIATION. WE JUST WANT TO TALK TO FRIENDS, LEARN, AND HAVE A GOOD TIME.

Amen Curt!

Both clubs have something different to offer and both are great clubs for different reasons :) I'm a member of both and am happy to say that I feel like I fit in with both clubs. It saddens me a great deal to see hard feelings on either board, especially when we're such a tight-knit community (or at least I like to think we are). Can we please put any hard feelings aside and start working on a joint meeting in the appropriate thread?
