I have had my bubble tip anenome for about a week now and it has been regularly closing up for a few hours towards the end of the light cycle and then re-opening. Is this normal...bad?
I would say at first when they are new to a system they will collapse more often when happy and acclimated they collapse less often, dependant on feeding regularity.
75w viper head on 12g nano. Rose Bubble tip.... looks good and has bubble tips throughtout the day... hosts a clown fish... at night it loses some of its "bubble-ness." Tank has been established over a year now.
sounds like its just getting used to the tank. Still keep a good eye on it and if you're feeding it I would cut back to about once a month. Alot of people try to feed their anemone too much and it can cause water quility issues. I have seen some customers having the same problem with the deflating and once they stop feeding so much the deflating isn't as often. What is happening is the anemone is purging its waste and trying to bring in clean water. This can be because of bad shipping conditions or bad water quality or any number of things. But definately keep a good eye on it and make sure it doesn't get more frequent.
