is it normal for BTA to shrivel up periodically?

Next time try to make up the water the night before. It takes time for the pH to fully stabilize, which could be causing your issues.

hmm, learning a lot from this one thread. i always mix up the water the night before, but just because this is how i was advised to do it. never knew why it was important. thanks again for the information.

might as well keep this thread going. Can an anemone bleach? and if so, where does it start? i see 4 small white lines near the mouth of mine. they where there when i get it, but is that normal?

My GBTA retracts back into the rocks each night.

The "green" in my BTA is greener than the video shows. It did move higher on the rocks after I added a 3rd powerhead (dont think it was light related as the nem was in the same spot for 6mo, added powerhead and next day it was 6in higher on the rocks).



Every night it shrinks into the rocks (as can be seen in the photo below).

My nem is sticky, eats silversides, mysis, krill, one of my hermit crabs :eek1:

Romsoccer, my nem also has the white lines going into the mouth. I have read that this is normal and not bleaching.

If it matters my nem is a clone that I picked up about 6mo ago and it was about 1/2 the size it is now.

Indymann99 --- it looks like yours is stretching up to get more light. And I would cover that one powerhead in the video -- the tentacles are going to get sucked in one of these days.

The nem is further away from the PH than the video looks - about 4 inches. If the foot lets go, I agree the nem could get sucked in. It has been this way for 3mo or so. I dont want to try to move the nem, nor the PH.

i will also add that my GBTA kinda retracts into where it's attached at night...then will open up nice and big during day. it seems that this is normal.
