Is it safe to use compact flourescent lights vertically?

I want to light the refugium section of my display tank by mounting a coralife 24" power compact fixture on the outside, vertically, facing inwards. I haven't read much about power compact bulbs mounted vertically and am wondering if it would be safe to do so. Thanks in advance for your help.

I really can't see that it makes a difference which way they are mounted as long as they are secure and no hazard of a bulb or electrical component falling into water. This is my opinion. I mounted a couple quads on the inside of a canopy once that were mounted vertically. I had no problems, but they have to be secure.

We have standard ones mounted vertically at work in paint booths...so no issue with operation in the position

i agree i have use pc vertically as well

You will be just fine. Fluorescent bulbs can be mounted in any orientation.
