Is it safe to use methylene blue to dip a cleaner shimp??

My cleaner shrimp that I had for a little more than 3 years has past on. I got a new shrimp which is acclimating as I write this;
Is it safe to dip with methylene blue for about 5 minutes?
I also have a beautiful flame angle that is also acclimating and was going to dip them together.

Methylene blue is toxic and I would not recomend it. It is used to treat ich parasites and fungus so if you think your cleaner shrimp needs to be dipped with the potential of added stress to it then go for it.

If your goal is to stop the spread of ich then quarantine of 1 month is your best and safest way.

ok i wont did the shrimp but there is no problem dipping the flame angle?

Im not a fan of unnatural cures. I have had bad luck with most drugs for fish. I wouldnt do it.

However I have read more than once from reputable sources that methylene blue is really mild and very hard to over dose on. It seems to be something that most biologists agree on.

It's definitely carcinogenic and I've gone back and forth on this one. Maybe consider a formalin-malachite green dip...a bit more broad spectrum.

Too late, I only dipped the flame, 5 drops for 1 gal, for 5 minutes, then rinsed with temperature matched ro water for 1o seconds.

3 -4 years is about the most cleaners live. You did good I don't think it will be necessary to dip the shrimp.

Never use methylene blue on shrimp or other inverts, as it is extremely toxic to them. I don't think you would have too much trouble using it on the flame, though it is unnecessary with good quarantine. Supposedly, methylene blue aids in increasing oxygen transport and has a calming effect (obviously a drug induced one). According to updated MSDS info, it is not terribly toxic but toxicological properties aren't fully investigated.
