Is it true that acrylic tanks deform over time and scratch easily?

I was looking at some acrylic tanks and people say that they can bow out easy and scratch very easily, is this true?

IMO:
Glass > Acrylic

Yes and Yes. I am really careful with the two hex acrylics that I have right now, but they get a scratch here and there anyway. When I upgrade, it's gonna be glass.

my first tank was a 40 gal acrylic tank, I loved the look of it , clean and not much distortion but even with using an old credit card to clean off the algae I still manage to scratch it. Basically acrylic = scratches no way to avoid it
