Is Maracyn 2 effective if mixed in food?

I need to treat a Crosshatch Trigger for a cloudy eye. Both eyes have been cloudy since I got him. I thought once he went from qt to the display it would clear-up on it's own, but it hasn't. I want to add a antibiotic to his food but can only find Maracyn 2 or Triple Sulpha by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. Can either of these be added to food?

do NOT add maracyn to the display, maracyn is an anti-biotic and there is a chance it will destroy your nitrifying bacteria check out www.wetwebmedia.com for more info.

Thanks, but that is why I want to add an antibiotic directly to the triggers food. He eats larges chunks of shrimp that could be stuffed with meds, if I can find an appropriate one to use. It's a 375g tank so any residual affect will be minimal.

Antibiotic in food is generally far less effective than administration in water. I'd think that with predators that eat a lot in one feeding it may work better.

I have not tried maracyn 2 in show tank, but maracyn (erythromycin) does not outright kill most nitrification bacteria, although I don't know its effect on invertebrates in a reef tank. In a FO tank I have used it long time ago. There was detectable nitrite but little ammonia.

The same is true for kanamycein and Neomycin. These antibiotics depress nitrification but does not outright kill most nitrification bacteria.

One antibiotic that is deadly on nitrification bacteria is chloromycetin. It wipes out nitrification. This drug is not much available because it is known to be related to some blood problem for dogs and cats, but my old vet still let me have some. Chloro is often more effective than many other antibiotics, sadly.
