My clam is getting brown stripes in it's mantel. I've had it for about 4-5 months now. I know that they change colors but just wanted to run it by someone with more experience with clams. Lighting is t5 75/25 and an aqua blue plus from reefgeek. 39 watts each. I did have it under an aquasun lamp up untill 1 1/2 weeks ago but my other corals were bleaching so I swiched to the 75/25. It was starting to do this before the swich though. water perams are good except for the sg which today was 1.030. I'm working on getting that back down to 1.025-4. the only other problem I'm having is keeping the pH up even though alk and cal are 8 and 420 respectivly. PH runs about 7.7. temp 80.8F. Any thoughts. Thanks. Oh yeah the clam is about 9 inches from the light.

gotta learn how to do that yet. Maybe tomarrow nite I can work on that and get one posted. I need to do that anyway. I'd like a photo journal of the 55 I'm working on in my gallery.

thanks joker. not sure how you did it but thanks. I'ts alittle larger than I thought it would be. You can see the areas on the right where I am talking about. It was happening on the left side of the mantel as well but this area seems to be filling in with blue now. The clam is also turing a bit more green than when I first got it. So what do you think. Have any of you seen this before and is it something to be concerned about and if so how do you correct it.

its very hard to tell anything because of the photo. i can see the spots your talking about but the photo quality is just too off.

can you try to get a few good photos and review them to make sure they are of good quality and repost.

nice looking clam..

i love the green...

your Ph seems a little low...since it is i would check it at night with the lights off as well..and see how low it is really getting..

I'll try to get some pics posted tomarrow if time allows. Hunting season is only a month away and my buddy and I will be hanging our stands and triming trees tomarrow. I need to practice with my bow too to make sure I get a good clean kill. Dont want any injured deer running around. Looks bad on us hunters.
