I have a Vertex Puratek 100gpd RO/DI unit, about a year old, and this is what my DI canister looks like:
Unlike the other two canisters, the area around the actual cartridge is not full of water; there's just that little two-inch pool at the bottom. Also, there are a bunch of air bubbles in the resin itself. It has worked like this since I got it, not sure why I haven't questioned it in the past.
The water coming in from the RO canister DOES trickle into this outside area like it's supposed to, and then I'm assuming the water in the little pool gets pushed up through the resin and out by the increase in air pressure in the canister from the incoming water.
Is this a problem? Should I open it up and fill the canister with water? (The actual resin itself works because the source water is 170 TDS and the product is 2, I just want to know about the operation of the UNIT.)
