Is my GBTA splitting, sick or dying? He's been staying low in the tank lately.

I don't think it's splitting. I think the outbreak of dinoflagellates is irritating it. Other than siphon, water changes, GFO, reduced photo period, is there a way to wipe them out? I've changed 30% of water since last week. Tonight I siphoned what I could and cut lights to 6hrs.
One plus side to dinoflagellates is they seem to irritate or kill TX Trash Palys.

Try dosing hydrogen peroxide at 1ml per 10 gallons for a week. I read a thread on another forum about this and it seems to work really well :) I tried dosing to get rid of some algae and saw no adverse affects to anything at all and even started seeing some coloring up on corals.

I was able to get a better look last night and there was still only one mouth. I didn't see another anemone anywhere.

Thanks Lynn. How does chaeto, anemones and clams fair when dosing H2O2?

I don't have a clam but in that thread someone did and said it was fine. I never noticed any change in my chaeto or anemone while dosing. Just don't dose more than that.

Added the first dose last night. Didn't see any ill effects to the livestock in the hours after I added the 10ml dose. That combined with wetter skimming and reduced photo period will hopefully kill off the dinoflagellates.

Looks like the dinoflagellates are dieing off. And my anemone is looking much happier today. In a few days, I should be able to return the photo period to 9hrs.

Thanks Lynn.

Looks like the Hydrogen Peroxide was the cure. BTA is looking very happy now. I've not seen any ill effects. Everything looks healthy. Water is crystal clear.
Thanks Lynn.
