Is not having RODI water causing this issue

Hi Agein over the past month or so in my brand new reef tank I've had a 3-4 Zoa frags die and my old frogspawn from my old tank has not opened up at all sense I've moved it into my new tank. Right now I use kordon plus to get rid if all the bad stuff in tap water, my ammonias are at .25-.50 and nitrates and nitrites are at 0. My KH is at 12 my calcium was at 380 but I dosed the tank to raise the levels and all my fish are doing fine. Even tho my zoas are pretty low in the tank I'm confident that my 2 lighting fixtures that equal 330 watts all together can support them that low, I dip all my corals in rivive before they go in and I am just soooooo confused on how They are still dieing and ideas

Coral wise I also have. Duncan coral that has grown like wild fire ever since I moved it, green and red war coral who is doing good, fungia plate, green toad stool, mushrooms, GSP, green eye SPS cup coral and candy canes that are all doing great it's just mostly my zoas and frogspawn(((

i cycled it with cured rock for a month and had no ammonia spikes or spikes of anything wht so ever the tank is now 4 months old

How large is your tank? How much (in lbs.) live rock do you have. Ammonia needs to be zero, no exceptions, or things will die.
How did you cycle your tank?

get another test kit and verify the ammonia, any ammonia is bad. If your second test also shows ammonia you need to track down the source ASAP. It is interesting you have other stuff that seems to be doing fine.

Ya I know it's weird haha and it's a 65 gal tank with 65-70 lbs if live rock and a 20 gal sump and ok I'll get a new test kit ASPA haha also if there still is ammonia showing in the tank where do u think the source is coming from ???

Also the way I cycled my tank is listed up above

were they fresh cut frags when you got them? sometimes I have lost fresh cuts simply cause they were stressed from being cut then moved. Then the ammonia in the water could cause your hammer to be stressed. Have you checked your tap water for all levels, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, phosphates, copper. Water conditioners work to a certain extent but they are far from perfect leaving alot of crap floating around. I strongly recommend a RO/DI unit. If nothing else start using kalk in your top off water, kalk will actually help clean water. I forget the exact science but basicly it causes all the metals and heavier contaminates to settle at the bottom in the sludge.

No I have not tested right out of the tap and not all of them were I think one of tem were freshly fragged and one other was unloaded a into te stores coral holding tank for one day then I for the frag te other 2 I'm not sure they seemed very healthy in the holding tanks but I don't know

When you say you use Kordon plus, do you mean Kordon's Amquel Plus?

It is possible there is too much copper in the tap water.

Do you have inverts like snails or shrimp?

yes i use the kordons amquel plus and yes i do have inverts i have snails and crabs and had 2 peppermint shrimp but they both dissapered

Yikes! That sounds like a tank in the earliest stages of cycling. I don't recall ever seeing tap water test that high for ammonia in all of my years. Consider building an emergency ATS to pull the ammonia out of the water and protect your livestock through this cycle if you have nowhere to put them.
