Is something wrong with my green bubble tip anemone?

So, the anemone just released a ball of brown slime out of its mouth. I figure it was pooping. I helped it by gently wiping the poop off because my hermit crab was climbing into it and I'm afraid my hermit will hurt the anemone. but the hermit keeps crawling back to it! Grrr. I laid food next to the anemone on the rock, so if it's hungry it can grab it. The tentacles are all saggy and it's wrinkly looking and the mouth is pretty wide open. But it did poop, so maybe it'll fix itself? I'll keep an eye on it, I hope it lives. It looks pretty bad, but it's very very stuck to the rock, so it's not loose, which I know it good. Hopefully it works out.

I just checked and it shows in the normal range according to my little colored chart. It's at about 2.6-2.7 milli equaivalents per liter.

Should I check anything else?

My temp is 81. pH was 8.2-8.3 about 2 days ago. Salinity is 1.024. I use t5HO lighting. Maybe it's too close to the light and is getting burned? It's about 14-15 inches from the light bulbs. I will check copper levels although there should be 0! I will update with the parameters I get right now.

Copper: 0ppm
Ammonia: .25ppm
Nitrates/nitrites: 0
Calcium: 400mg/L (I have to API test kit and it took 20 drops to reach end point)
Salinity 1.024
Temp 81

The only think I can't test for is phosphates? Will this cause problems? I tested for phosphates about 3 weeks ago and it was at 0. I ran out of the test stuff.

i got a BTA and it did that to me this past week. Its perfectly fine though. It pooped. shriveled up. bam it was good as new. bubbley as hell and moved right behind the largest [profanity] rock to move in my tank. it likes the back side where theres basically no flow

Did you do any recent water change? If it's attached to the rock and the tentacles are sticky that's a good sign. Maybe give it a day.

I added water 3 days ago to lower the salinity as a lot of it evaporates in a weeks time, but the salinity only got up to 1.027, and it's lowered to 1.024.

I did add a bunch of base rock, and changed the filters and carbon.

I am going to add a powerhead cause the anemone seems to like the corner of the tank where there's no flow at all. I head the rock up by the flow to help release the poop from it (the hermit tried to take it out of him and I was afraid it was going to hurt it).

It's really shriveled up. I will flip the rock back over because he originally hid from the light and I turned it over to look at him. I don't want him to get burned. He's under a rock that has corals all over the top of it, so I have the rock sideways. He's definitely attached. The tentacles are all shriveled and not sticky right now, but they were earlier before he pooped. The tentacles are moving though because he's in an area with no flow cause he moved there.

Why did you add base rock? How much did you add? Since I see you have a rise in ammonia.

I added like 30 pounds, but I already had some real live rock. I added the rock because my tank had very little, and I am planning on allowing it to become live rock over time, then add coral frags. I seem to have more luck with corals than anemones.

You better check your ammonia again? Because I think the base rock might have something to do with your anemone not doing well.

The tank is 55 gallons. I'll keep an eye on it, but .25 isn't that high is it? I thought like 1.0 was high. I do have some ammonia neutralizer that I can add to the tank.

Anemones are strange creatures. When they expell they do look pretty sad.

When you cleaned your rock a few months ago, did you use copper then too? Or just boil it?

At this point I'd do a large water change and leave it alone and wait and see what happens. Messing with it may well be adding undo stress to it.

Any ammonia is not a good thing IMO anyway.

It actually looks better after flipping the rock back over. The mouth closed quite a bit, the lights off, so the tentacles aren't bubbled, but I took a quick look. I will see what it looks like after I turn the light on in a couple hours.

A couple months ago, the rock I cleaned was just with boiling water.
