Is something wrong with my probe?

I have posted before about my probe before. Huge swings in Ph... I thought it might have been because it was next to a heater 5" away. Well I put it in the main display and my reading was still low....well my Ph was right, my tank was low. After a few water changes I got it back to normal 8.2-8.0. But this is the thing I want to know... The probe will read 8.2 or so all day, I'll pick the probe out of the water and put it right back in the same spot and now it will read 7.8 for about 4 hrs. or more. So then I picked it up again and put it right back down and now it reads 8.2. It just keeps doing this almost every time I move it in and out. Is there something wrong with it? Any help here would be great. Thanks Ryan

P.S. I don't have anything as a second source for reading Ph

Hi

You have a lazy probe, it is taking longer to recover than normal, there are many reasons for this but the most common is a blocked membrane. To unblock this or attempt to, first with a clean tooth brush and using pH 4.0 brush the membrane that is around the glass bulb taking care not to damage/break the bulb, then leave the probe over night in pH 4.0 solution.

After 24 hours recalibrate and see how it goes

Probes can fail sometimes sooner than hoped they are classed by manufacturers as "degenerative" so it is possible you have a probe that has expired.

If it does what you have described above then you may have a warranty case please email us following are smooth proceedure for help :)
