Is something wrong with my sun coral?

So I've got two stalks of sun coral that are attached to a small rock I got from a friend. A couple days after acclimating them to the tank I noticed it...'pooping'?

It will essentially spit out this long strand of white 'stuff'. The flow will catch it and move it along, but after I did a water change last night, they really started spitting stuff out. I had to get in there and remove the pieces it got so bad.

Anyone know what this is? Googling the problem isn't turning up any results.

ive had sun corals spawn due to moving them into a diff tank... im guessing that's what was happening
