Is TBS Live Rock Made Of Concrete?

Yesterday a guy at my local FS told me that the live rock from Tampa Bay Saltwater was made from concrete. He said that the company just dumped pieces of concrete into the bay and waited until something grew on it. Then they harvest the final pieces. The guy at the FS said that this live rock could hurt an aquarium - depending upon what the concrete was made of.

What do you all think? What are your pieces made of? Is it natural rock or is it concrete like this guy says? I would find that hard to believe but I thought I'd ask. I have seen all your pictures and it doesn't look like concrete to me. I am very interested in ordering some rock from TBS and this scared me a bit. Maybe this is the result the guy was going for so I would buy from him. Who knows?

the rock isn't made of concrete. I was going to make a snide comment about the LFS but will refrain and assume the person was given misinformation.

Jason and Phil,

I thought as much. Thanks for your replies and the welcome. We have only one saltwater fish store in my town and truthfully, I detest having to deal with them. They never have a decent supply of fish or fish related items and they are rude. I guess they feel that since they are the only saltwater fish supply store in this city that they have no reason to impress their customers around here or even give good advice.

I am in the process of scouring the area around here to see where else I can shop but I have a feeling that I will have to travel a bit to get better service and better advice.

Thanks again.
