Is there a dip that will take care of red bugs?

I seem to have acquired a case of the little bastards down here and cant seem to find the time to petition the local vets for a few pills. My nav training really kicking along and my free time is limited. I only have a couple of small frags, so removing them from the tank wouldn't be difficult. I was thinking that I could pull them and put them in a QT tank (should have done that to begin with!) for a while. Is there a dip that would kill the bugs and spare the acros? How long would the eggs and bugs survive in the main tank without acros to munch on?

Cody knows about Interseptor.^^^^ Cody, I don't think other dips will do a job. Try to ask friends who have puppies or contact your LFS to see if they can help you out. Somebody from thier clientel should have a dog.
BTW discovery of this treatment belongs to Dustin from O.R.A which Mark forgot to mention in his article.

I know about Interceptor. Those are the pills from the vet I mentioned in the first post. Getting the time to find a willing vet and then go get them is tough though. I'm pulling 12+hr work days starting at 0530 and then I have to get home, eat and study for a few hrs and still find time to speak to my wife and sleep. Now they're springing weekend flights on us, so free time on Sat and sun will be precious little too.

So, enough of my sob story...is there anything else that will work? I read a little about Revive 'shocking' them so that they fall off the coral, but didn't do a whole lot of research tonight on it.
I also read that they live 4-6 days and die off w/o acros to feed on. I'm definitely going to pull the frags from the DT and QT them so I can add more in the future. I just need to come up with a way to treat them while they're in QT that is easy to get or that I already have (revive).

Thanks again!

Unfortunately, Interceptor is prescription only.

It is actually illegal to acquire it from any other source than a veterinarian by prescription.

I haven't tried, but i think 1-800-petmeds.com will write a prescrition over the phone. If not try calling your vet and see if he will do it over the phone and then call dr. foster's and they will call and get it faxed to them. My vet does comfortis ( best flea med ever) over the phone for me and i call it in to dr. foster's.

Reading up a little:

Coral Rx web page says it will deal with several nasty critters, but not the one you are dealing with,

http://www.coralrx.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6&Itemid=7

Revive describes itself as a cleaner, but does not claim to deal with any particular critter.

I think I would go with Paul's suggestion on the interceptor and Duggs suggestion on asking around the other guys in flight school for someone who has a dog and knows a vet pretty well.

Good luck

If all else fails let me know and i will call my vet and get you a pill and mail it to you. My dog is due for her shots anyway.
