Is there a list of fish that spawn in tanks?

I've probably read every page here in the breeding logs and can't get enough. On top of that I've had ONE of my clowns host a rbta recently. (way too young to spawn I suspect and not acting like a pair, one of them host the bta the other one doesn't) I was wondering if there is a list somewhere of fish that are known to easily or otherwise spawn in a tank.

I have the clowns and aparently a "pair" of siscor tail dartfish, I only figure they are a pair because they never fight and sleep together.

Soo I want more fish for my 55gal mixed reef and figured if I could get fish that spawned in the tank and were a pair that would be better than just picking a boring fish out.

So anyone know of a list somewhere that can help me narrow down my choices of the hundreds and hundreds of fish to choose from?

MWP, you are my hero btw, keep it up.

Jakaru, good luck with your clowns...give 'em time!

There's one list, probably far from complete, but It's the first one that I remember. On Frank Baench's website - http://www.rcthawaii.com/cvb/5.htm

FWIW, I'm pretty sure that a fair number of the fish listed on that list can't be done in most home setups..they require commercial sized cultures & rearing facilities and $$$

BTW Jakaru, I try to purchase all my fish as pairs. Doesn't always work out, but the one thing I keep in mind is that you always need TWO in order to get them to breed - not surprisingly for a long time most all marine fish were purchased singly by most hobbyists and that's probably still a good general guideline supplied by most retailers (i.e. I don't know too many shops that will readily tell clients to buy TWO flame angelfish and keep them in the same tank).

Research any species that interests you and you might get some insight on how they reproduce (and thus, how to "pair 'em up"). Others you just buy a bunch of and let them do their thing, others you can get as mated pairs (watch eBay, there's a Florida collector who routinely collects mated pairs of a few fish and I'm quite pleased with what I got from him), and still others if you're patient and observant you might be able to identify a pair of fish within a larger group at the retailer (how I got my now defunct Firefish pair).

FWIW,

Matt

Thanks so much you guys/girls whatever you are. I love my open top and afraid of having something jump out of it that I love. I don't know if I have to get rid of my dartfish in order to get some firefish but if I can do some kind of firefish hybrid or standard of some kind it would be nice but well see.

I don't know about MWP:D but I am a guy and if you ever meet a girl named Matt or Ed, RUN!!!
