is reef friendly, and one that you will see a lot of, and not clean out everything in your sandbed? probably not...just asking though because i have seen sone gorgeous starfish in other threads and definitely think that i could take a good liking to them if there are any out there that would be ok for my tank.

The Linckia starfish are basically algae eaters, mostly clinging to the side of the glass. They are definitly not the type to clean out your sandbed. Of the linckia's I think that the orange would be the easiest to keep.

The diet of Linckia stars is unknown, but might include microalgae. They generally starve to death in all but very large tanks, and often are received in very poor condition.

I've had an orange fromia star for over a year. Small, gentle, very cool looking and never causes problems. Linkias are good too, but can be a bit clumbsy. Just make sure you give all sea stars looooooong slow acclimation.

I have 2 starfish. One is chocolate chip and the other is very similar, but dark green. Both have gotten along great in my tank, but I currently only have mushrooms and zoos for coral. I've never seen the chocolate chip eat anything but algae, but I feed the green one some shrimp every week. Both have grown quite a bit.

I was planning to move them to a different tank when I get more corals and they turn into a nuisance.

I like my serpent star as well. Very cool to watch at night.

Do you watch the star at night whit all the lights off? or do you have moonlights? I have had my serpent for about 2 months now and only see 1 leg :( I do not have moonlight or anything like that but for what I can see she is never out.

also this start might be a kind that dont hide too much http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=2133

I'm not quite sure that star is reef safe.

Really?

Well the only reason I say that is b/c of this:

It is recommended to supplement its diet with small pieces of shrimp, mussel, or flaked food.

Yeah it seems like a very sociable guy :)

Yeah they always look sociable until they're eating your inverts ;)

They are reef safe. I draw my out during the day and sometimes at night with food. You can train them to come out during the day. Use a target feeder. Mine will eat anything it can get its legs on :)
