Target feeding is giving food to a specific animal, for example, hand-feeding a starfish. It's implied that there's some other animal that you're keeping away from the food source, like a hungry fish.

what do you target feed your star?
I put a piece of shrimp in it's path. This only works when it's on the sand and moving in a predictable direction. But, I catch him doing this about once a week or so.

I've heard that you can pick up the star and place it on top of the food. However, my star has rejected food anytime I've tried this.

I've got a couple brittlestars that have been great with fish, reef, visibility, etc. They'll also eat whatever I feed the rest of the tank.

They aren't that pretty, though.
