im geting sick of blasting all this freeken mucus off my coral and rocks does anyone know how to get rid of these things. smashing them is just so time consuming and u can berly see them. becouse they blend in so well.
As far as I'm aware, there is nothing you can do to get rid of them short of cooking all your rocks, which would kill your system. They live all over the place, and spread like wildfire. I had them in my tank, and now they're in my fuge and my propogation tank. I break them off when they get close, but I even have some that have grown on bare SPS where it has died back temporarily. Kinda funny, because now it's encrusted everything but the opening of the stupid snail.
good idea jeff if they cant get food then they die. and no more damn mucus worth a shot and i found the damn mother load in my over flow thats were they were multiplying i just hit them with a screwdriver becouse they was easy to get to there had to be 15 or so in there.
well to me they look like worms so i call them worms but they are snails and yes they are very sharp if there shell gets chiped. they are as hard as thin glass.
Vermetids, I have some myself. They are annoying and are considered a coral irritant, but that's about it. Someone suggested if you increase your nutrient export, they won't have anything to feed on and will eventually die away. Apparently they feed on particulate matter, so RO/DI water and a good skimmer should solver your problem.
and i have both now so lets see what happend i also increased flow with 2 masive hob filters with carbon bags in them thinking if i blow it off then suck it up problem solved i don tknow how well thats gonna work but will see hahah. worth a shot.
