Is there life after Nudi's?

Well I believe that I have Nudi's. A few months back I noticed a half eaten frag of Zoas with a Nudi on it. I removed it and everything else seemed fine. Now a few of my colonies are being eaten it seems. Today I went out and bought a 3G eclipse as a quarantine tank. I pulled out all of my zoas (12 small colonies / frags) and dipped them in a freshwater lugols dip. No nudis fell off. I guess I will just keep them in the quarantine tank until I figure out what else to do. Any suggestions?

Can you find any of there eggs? They look like small white curls, and would be stuck to the rocks on the sides of the zoas who look munched. I've seen them on my glass as well, they are quite small. I pull out my rock periodically and scrape the egg casings off (they're hard to get off), and I look for nudis closely and suck them up with a turkey baster. Like most accounts I've read, I've found that if you hunt for them and their eggs consistantly until the population is under control....thats the best way to kick them. Good luck!

That is what has me stumped. I have seen no eggs. I have seen pictures of them so I know what they look like. I do know that I had at least 1 nudi a while back. I caught him and removed him. I guess I will just wait and see what happens.

I dealt with the nudis twice. The first time I thought I got rid of them all, WRONG. After about three weeks they were back. The second time I took no chances. I set up a 30 gallon quarantine tank bare bottom so I could see if any nudis were moving around. Every zoo and polyp was removed and put in quarantine. I dipped all colonies every five days for about a month. I kept the zoos in quarantine for a few more weeks (I think it was almost 4 months total) to make sure any nudis left in the tank and any eggs hatching would starve to death since their only food source is zoos. I also added a cleaner wrasse and a six line wrasse which some say might eat the nudis (I can't prove it but it was worth a try, I was desperate).

All I can say is that it was a major PIA but I have never had nudis in my tank since. I am also more aware than ever of what to look out for when buying zoos at the LFS. If I see even 1 nudi (or flat worm, but thats another story) in the tank I won't buy any coral from that tank.
