Is this a good deal?

I don't know but I can tell that I would pass on any T-5 system that doesn't have one reflector per bulb. This all-in-one reflector would waste A LOT of light.

yeah. i dont have t5 but people say all the time that the most important thing for efficient, high output light, is having individual reflectors. i would also steer clear of anything that doesnt state the actual wattage. the ad compares it to 2-400w metal halides as far as energy consumption, and says you save $360/year, but it doesn't put out nearly the light that 800w of metal halide does, there's just no way.

Looks homemade and the description says 12 bulbs but I only count 8 in the picture. For that price money would be better spent on a TEK fixture from a reputable dealer.

It does come with 12 but 4 are extras. I also noticed they did not have waterproof endcaps.

oh and the ad says it saves $360 in the life of the light, not each year. just thought i would clear that up. i know metal halides are more expensive, but i really think they are the closest to natural daylight.
