i found him swimming around and my instincts told me to take him out.

If it is a pistol shrimp good trade bait a $20+ shrimp? So don't squash it!

what should i feed it or feed it at all?

It is a ghost shrimp. It is not bad at all. Feed him flake or tiny bits of whatever you feed the other critters. He will mostly just sift through the sand to get his dinner, cleaning up waste.

Some have been known to pair with gobbies, though that guy looks tiny. You won't see him much, other than the occassional spotting as he dumptrucks little mounds of sand out of his burrow.

Good addition to a reef.

PS:I'm no expert, but iI looked into having one last year, still may, since my pistol shrimp may have died, and my goby is lonely.

Sun Spiders!! ! Solifugides!

I remember those (I grew up in Arizona, Phoenix specifically).

Folks call them Camel Spiders in the Middle East, and there are all sorts of silly myths about them as well.

i find them all the time in our garage. we actualy have alot of wildlife in north scottsdale, havaelinas, those over priced geckos at petsmart, my cat brings the geckos in all the time!

i immedeately thought camel spider when i sawit. i hate camel spiders.

it looks like a ghost shrimp to me though. we used to go hunting for them in southern california, they make good fish bait.

Camel spider=Sun spider=solofigid. Same animal.
There's no reason to hate/fear them, as they aren't poisonous, and they don't chase people or eat camel stonachs or any of that other nonsense. Oddly enough, I JUST had a nap before work (I work nights, and am heading in in a bit) where i saved a solifigid from one of our cats, back when I lived in Nevada. The dream also contained kittens in every drawer instead of socks (I was trying to get to work in the dream as well...). Funny things,dreams.
