Here is a picture I took the other day of a clear jelly mass (with sand sticking to it) that was under one of my maxima clams. To me it matches the description I've read of a pyram snail egg sac but I've never seen another picture so I dont know. Or is this something the maxima secreted? Each week I remove the sand from under the clam with this lid and I get another large jelly mass with it.
I do have small white/gray snails in both of my tanks (one with clams and one without) that look like pyram snails but may only be rissoids. I see the snails everywhere in the sand and on the lower glass of the walls at night. Some will also be on the clams shells as well as the liverock etc.
To me the snails seem to be the Rissoids but the clear jelly mass makes me think that they must be pyrams. However I have never seen any of the snails look like they're feeding on the clams by being near their flesh and I've checked at all times of the day and night.
I wish I had something that would let me take some pictures of the actual snails but my camera would just give me a big blur if I tried to take a shot of something that small.
