All other corals look fine, but this Acan ( which I've had for less than 2 weeks ) seems to have some white rings around the polyps. Is this abnormal and, if so, what corrective measures should I take ?

That acan is sure upset. Acans don't like lots of light. I would put it on your sandbed and see if it improves.

Do you see it expanding or is it just shriveled up? What did it look like when you bought it?

Here's a picture of it from Monday. Conditions have not changed since this picture was taken and the coral opens up like this everyday when the lights are on.

Are you only seeing this at night? If so I wouldn't worry. They deflate their polyps to extend feeders (small little fingers with bulbs on the end.)

Hard to see in blue light. Natural light is better.
What's beside it?
Acans retract almost completely when lights go out at night (and look terrible), and take a few hours to inflate when lights are on.
Bottom to mid tank location, low flow, moderate lighting.

My acans we're receeding because they were starving. I had no prosphates and they need a trace amount. Ideally nitrates would be detectible. Maybe 5 or 10. Try feeding marine pellets. They seem to be easy to feed lps with.
